Home Technology Technician
Springboard Automation | Based in Philadelphia
Full time, hourly, non-exempt
$28–$42 per hour based on skills and experience + generous overnight per diem
Regular work in Philadelphia and NYC, with travel required
Do you like puzzles? Do you find yourself wondering how things work—and wanting to figure them out?
At Springboard Automation, we bring lighting, music, shades, networks, and home technology together in some of the country’s most exceptional homes. Making that happen takes people who think carefully, enjoy working with their hands, and care about getting the details right.
We’re looking for someone who learns quickly, asks thoughtful questions, and follows through. Bring curiosity, care, and a strong work ethic—and be ready to learn the technical skills.
You don’t need professional installation experience—we’re interested in your practical instincts, how you learn, and the care you take with your work.
Who You Are
You like figuring things out. Puzzles, troubleshooting, making something work better—you enjoy following the logic and asking, “If this happens, what should happen next?”
You’re handy and eager to learn. You’ve used hand and power tools, enjoy building and fixing things, and want to understand the technology behind them.
You work well with others—and on your own. You listen, pitch in, and take feedback well. You can own a task, follow through, and ask for help when you need it.
What You’ll Do
Build and install. Install TVs, speakers, shades, and network gear. Build AV racks and run, terminate, and label wiring.
Make it all work together. Learn to program, test, and troubleshoot lighting and home control systems.
Finish with pride. Keep your work tidy, pay attention to the details, and leave things ready for your teammates and the homeowner.
You’ll learn alongside our team and take on more responsibility as your skills grow.
What You Need
Hands-on familiarity with basic tools, including a drill/driver, tape measure, and level.
Comfort with computers—you can find your way around unfamiliar software, adjust settings, and troubleshoot basic issues.
A professional, respectful approach with clients and colleagues.
A valid driver’s license.
Ability to perform physical work, lift 50 lbs, and climb ladders.
Availability for regular work in Philadelphia and NYC, including overnight travel and occasional projects farther away.
Philadelphia, NYC, and Beyond
You’ll be based in Philadelphia, with regular work in both Philadelphia and NYC. Overnight stays are part of the role, and some projects take us farther, including destinations such as Miami.
When we travel, we travel well: quality hotels, a generous overnight per diem, and team dinners. All business travel beyond a normal commute to our office is fully covered.
